Share your FIFO roster with your partner or family

FIFO Planner lets you share your roster with your partner, family, or mates via a private link. They can see your swing and R&R without needing their own account.

Creating a share link is a Pro feature, for workers who need private, revocable family access.

How roster sharing works

Private share link

Create a unique, read-only link from your roster's share dialog. Anyone with the link can view your roster, with no login needed on their end.

Fully revocable

Revoke the link whenever you like. It stops working straight away, and anyone who opens it afterwards gets a not-found page.

Setting up a link

  1. Step 1: Open your roster and choose Share. Pro is needed to create a link.
  2. Step 2: Optionally set an expiry date. It ends at the end of that day in Perth time, and leaving it blank means the link never expires.
  3. Step 3: Optionally write a message of up to 280 characters, such as “Flight lands 3:30pm, picking up hire car.” It appears at the top of the shared page. You set it when you create the link, so to change it, create a new link.
  4. Step 4: Press Create link, then copy it or let your partner scan the QR code on their phone.

Each roster has one active link at a time. Creating a new link ends the old one, so people using the old address lose access. The Shared Links page on your account lists every link you have made and whether it is active, expired or revoked.

What your partner sees

The shared page is made to answer “when are you home?” at a glance:

  • Whether you are on site or home, which day of the swing or R&R it is, and how far through it you are.
  • When you are next home and when you are next back on site.
  • Your next flight, if you have added one, and a list of what is coming up, including flight routes and times.
  • A month and week calendar of your roster with your events.
  • Your message at the top of the page, if you wrote one.
  • A button to add your roster to their own calendar.

The page works on any device with a web browser. Dates are shown in Perth time with a note of how far the viewer's own timezone is from it, which helps when family are in a different state, and a hint on whether it is likely a good time to call, based on your shift pattern.

Privacy and what to know before you share

  • Sharing is always opt-in. Your roster is private until you create a link.
  • Links are per roster, so you control who has each one. Anyone you give a link to can pass it on, so treat it like a key.
  • Your first and last name appear on the shared page.
  • Viewers see your event names, dates and types, plus flight routes and times. Notes, booking references, seats, terminals, gates, flight numbers and airlines are not sent to them, on the page or in a calendar subscription.
  • The shared calendar marks public holidays from a built-in list of common Australian holidays, which may not match your own state’s holidays.
  • FIFO Planner does not use your location, and does not share your data with third parties by default.

Read the full privacy policy.

Calendar subscription and friends

The shared page has a button to add your roster to Google or Apple Calendar. It is a live subscription with your fly-in and fly-out days and your events, so your partner's calendar updates as you change your roster. Revoking the link stops it. See calendar export for exactly what it contains.

If a friend also uses FIFO Planner Pro, they can add your link to see which days you are both off (Friends' R&R overlap). They see only your swing pattern for that, not your events, and you are not notified when someone adds your link. Revoke it and the overlap disappears from their calendar.

No more “when are you home?” messages

Once your partner has the link, they can check your next R&R date and when you fly out without calling or messaging you at site.

Common questions

Does my partner need a FIFO Planner account to view my roster?

No. They open the link in any web browser, with no account, login or app. The page is read-only.

Can I revoke the FIFO roster share link?

Yes. Revoke it from the share dialog or from the Shared Links page on your account. The link and its calendar subscription stop working straight away. You can create a new link at any time, and doing so replaces the old one.

Is the FIFO roster share link private?

It is not listed or searchable, and the page asks search engines not to index it, but anyone who has the link can open it. Sharing is always opt-in, and you can set an expiry date or revoke the link whenever you like.
